Arthur Hayes: BTC to $1M by 2030, But ETH Is His Top Pick Now

BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes believes Bitcoin has all the ingredients to reach a seven-figure price by 2030, citing the potential collapse of the AI bubble, "massive" money printing, and possible US yield curve control as key catalysts. Speaking on the latest episode of Trade Secrets, the 41-year-old billionaire said the $58,000 level was "probably the bottom" for Bitcoin and that the asset is now grinding higher in what he called a "hate fuck rally." Bitcoin is currently up 22.15% over the past 30 days, trading above $77,000 according to CoinMarketCap data.

Despite his long-term BTC optimism, Hayes revealed he is actively buying Ethereum, arguing that ETH could deliver a "3x to 5x pretty quickly" from current levels. His preference for ETH over Bitcoin in the near term comes as 10x Research head of research Markus Thielen recently told Trade Secrets that reaching $1 million by 2030 was "mathematically impossible" for Bitcoin, given the trillions in capital inflows required over just four years. Hayes acknowledged the asymmetric upside favors Ethereum for the capital his fund, Maelstrom, is deploying right now.

Hayes also cooled on Hyperliquid, saying he no longer sees the same upside potential he once did. "I don't think there's that type of asymmetry in the price right now. Everybody knows that Hyperliquid is here," he explained, noting that massive expectations are already priced in. He added that better risk-reward opportunities exist in the broader altcoin space. The comments arrive shortly after US President Donald Trump said the US is working to bring Hyperliquid into the country, though Hayes—pardoned by Trump in 2024—dismissed the president's influence on crypto prices, saying readers should instead "look at what Bessant does" and focus on the Treasury and Fed rather than political rhetoric.
