Binance Launches 24/7 FX Perpetual Futures With Weekend Pricing Model
Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has introduced 24/7 perpetual futures contracts for foreign exchange markets, joining a growing cohort of crypto platforms expanding into round-the-clock FX derivatives. The new product allows traders to gain continuous exposure to major currency pairs without the limitations of traditional forex market hours, which typically close on weekends and operate on fixed daily schedules.
The exchange's weekend pricing system is designed to maintain market activity outside standard forex operating hours, addressing a long-standing gap that has historically forced FX traders to sit out during weekends. By leveraging perpetual futures — derivative contracts with no expiry date — Binance enables users to speculate on currency movements using leverage, with funding rates periodically applied to keep contract prices anchored to underlying spot markets.
This move comes amid increasing competition among crypto exchanges seeking to capture market share from traditional forex brokers. Rivals including Bybit, OKX, and Bitfinex have already rolled out similar FX perpetual products, betting that crypto-native traders will embrace forex exposure through familiar derivatives infrastructure. Binance's scale and liquidity could accelerate adoption, particularly among algorithmic and retail traders already active on the platform.
The launch also reflects the broader convergence of crypto and traditional finance, as exchanges diversify offerings beyond bitcoin and ether to capture institutional and professional trading volume. With FX being the world's most traded asset class at over $7.5 trillion in daily volume, crypto exchanges see perpetual forex contracts as a strategic bridge between digital asset markets and legacy financial infrastructure — potentially opening a significant new revenue stream.
