Binance Reopens Bitcoin Withdrawals After $6.3B North Korea Hack
Binance has begun restoring user withdrawals following an attack that stole approximately $6.3 billion in cryptocurrency. The exchange suspended withdrawals after the Thursday incident, which the FBI attributed to North Korean operatives.
Phase one of the recovery process reopened the Bitcoin network, Binance said on X. The exchange stated that additional networks and assets would return in phases, with services prioritized according to recent user demand and released after stability and security checks.
Binance also said it had replenished 90% of the assets taken in the hack, an increase from 80% the previous day. Users were advised to consult Binance’s withdrawal page and network status page to confirm whether their selected asset and network were available.
The exchange warned of network congestion, longer processing times and temporary delays during the phased rollout. If a withdrawal fails, users were instructed to wait briefly and try again rather than submit multiple transactions.
