Binance.US Seeks $1B Valuation in Potential $100M Funding Round
Binance.US is reportedly pursuing a funding round of up to $100 million that could value the US-based cryptocurrency exchange at $1 billion, according to a Bloomberg report published Thursday. The exchange has been engaging in private investment discussions as it works to expand operations and rebuild its position in the American trading landscape. The proposed $1 billion valuation marks a significant decline from the $4.5 billion pre-money valuation Binance.US secured in 2022, when it raised $200 million in seed funding.
The fundraising effort comes as Binance.US looks to regain market share lost following Binance Holdings Ltd.'s 2023 settlement with US authorities. Under that agreement, Binance Holdings agreed to pay $4.3 billion in penalties and accepted heightened monitoring and oversight. Changpeng Zhao, the company's then-CEO, pleaded guilty to a felony charge and served a four-month prison sentence before receiving a pardon from President Donald Trump in 2025.
According to the report, Binance.US informed World Liberty Financial — the crypto platform co-founded by President Trump and his sons — about the funding round, though the company declined to participate. World Liberty Financial had previously been linked to a controversial $2 billion investment involving an entity tied to UAE royalty using Binance's USD1 stablecoin. The latest development underscores Binance.US's effort to stabilize its business amid ongoing regulatory scrutiny and competition from larger rivals in the US crypto market.
