Binance.US Targets $1B Valuation in $100M Funding Round Push
Binance.US is reportedly pursuing a $100 million funding round that could value the American crypto exchange at $1 billion, according to a Bloomberg report published Thursday. The US-based arm of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange is seeking private investment as it works to rebuild market share following its 2023 legal troubles. The proposed $1 billion valuation represents a sharp decline from the $4.5 billion pre-money valuation Binance.US secured in 2022, when it raised $200 million in its first funding round.
The exchange reportedly informed World Liberty Financial, the crypto platform co-founded by Trump and his sons, about the fundraising effort, though World Liberty will not participate. The two entities were previously linked in a controversial $2 billion investment that used Binance's USD1 stablecoin and involved ties to UAE royalty.
The funding push comes as Binance.US seeks to recover from the fallout of a 2023 settlement between parent company Binance Holdings Ltd. and federal regulators. Under that agreement, Binance Holdings paid $4.3 billion in penalties and agreed to enhanced monitoring, while then-CEO Changpeng Zhao pleaded guilty to a felony charge. Zhao served a four-month prison sentence before receiving a presidential pardon from Trump in 2025.
The exchange faces intensifying competition from larger rivals including Coinbase and Kraken, both of which have expanded market share during Binance.US's regulatory struggles. Industry analysts say the new capital injection would help fund product development, compliance infrastructure, and customer acquisition as the firm attempts to reestablish itself in the US market.
