Bitcoin ETFs Lose $201.8M as BTC Drops Below $78K, Ending 9-Day Inflow Streak
US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $201.8 million in net outflows on Friday, snapping a nine-session streak of consecutive inflows as Bitcoin's price slipped below the $78,000 mark. According to SoSoValue data, the reversal followed more than $3 billion in net inflows accumulated during the prior streak, though August flows remained solidly positive at $3.3 billion with one US trading session remaining in the month. Total net assets across US spot Bitcoin ETFs fell to $97.6 billion after briefly topping the $100 billion threshold on Thursday.
ARK 21Shares' Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) led Friday's withdrawals with $114.9 million in net outflows, followed by the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB) at $49.7 million and BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), the largest US spot Bitcoin ETF by assets, which shed $33.4 million. Morgan Stanley's Bitcoin Trust (MSBT) stood alone as the only fund to record inflows on the day, adding $9.3 million according to Farside Investors data.
While Bitcoin funds reversed course, Ether and XRP ETFs continued to attract capital, posting $102.2 million and $26.2 million in inflows respectively. Both categories last recorded net outflows earlier in August. Solana ETFs maintained their positive momentum as well, with Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noting the category has attracted $1.7 billion in cumulative flows without a sustained stretch of withdrawals. Bitwise's Solana ETF also became the first in the category to surpass the $1 billion asset milestone — a performance Balchunas called "impressive" despite what he described as a "nightmare downturn" in the first half of the year.
