Bitcoin ETFs See Best Month of 2026 With $3.52B Inflows as BTC Surges 25% in August

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded their strongest month of 2026 in August, attracting $3.52 billion in net inflows — a sharp jump from just $172 million in July, according to SoSoValue data. The surge coincided with Bitcoin gaining roughly 25% during the month, its biggest monthly rally since a 37.29% climb in November 2024, per CoinGlass. Net inflows were recorded on 16 of 21 trading days, including nine consecutive sessions between August 17 and August 27.

The August inflows reduced year-to-date net outflows by approximately 66%, bringing the figure from $5.29 billion down to $1.77 billion. Total net assets across US spot Bitcoin ETFs climbed to $99.61 billion by month's end, up about 31% from $76.29 billion in July, while monthly trading volume rose nearly 49% to $58.63 billion. The momentum did not carry into September, however, as Bitcoin ETFs opened the month with $236.46 million in net outflows on Tuesday — the largest single-day withdrawal since July 31 — after Bitcoin briefly dipped below $77,000 following late-August trades above $80,000.

Beyond Bitcoin, other crypto ETFs also posted notable gains in August. Spot Ether ETFs turned positive for the year with $732 million in year-to-date net inflows, recovering from a $1.12 billion deficit at the end of July. Spot XRP ETFs reached $502 million in year-to-date inflows, up roughly 46% from $343 million a month earlier. On Tuesday alone, Ether ETFs attracted around $11 million while XRP ETFs drew $14.4 million, even as Bitcoin funds saw outflows.
