Bitcoin ETFs Snap 9-Day Inflow Streak With $201M Outflow as BTC Slides Below $78K

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $201.8 million in net outflows on Friday, ending a nine-session inflow streak as Bitcoin slipped below $78,000. The reversal interrupted more than $3 billion in cumulative inflows accumulated during the run, though August remained solidly positive at $3.3 billion with one US trading session remaining. Total net assets across US spot Bitcoin ETFs dipped to $97.6 billion, retreating from the $100 billion threshold crossed just one day earlier, according to SoSoValue data.

ARK 21Shares' Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) led Friday's withdrawals with $114.9 million in net outflows, followed by Bitwise's Bitcoin ETF (BITB) at $49.7 million and BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), the largest fund by assets, which shed $33.4 million, per Farside Investors data. Morgan Stanley's newly launched Bitcoin Trust (MSBT) stood alone as the only fund to attract inflows, adding $9.3 million on the day.

While Bitcoin ETFs reversed course, altcoin-focused funds continued their upward trajectory. Ether ETFs pulled in $102.2 million and XRP ETFs added $26.2 million, both extending stretches of consistent inflows dating back to mid-August. Solana ETFs also held momentum, with Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noting the category has attracted $1.7 billion in cumulative flows without a sustained run of outflows. Bitwise's Solana ETF became the first in its class to surpass $1 billion in assets, a milestone Balchunas called "impressive" given what he described as a "nightmare downturn" in the first half of the year.
