Bitget CEO: Bitcoin May End 2026 Near Current Levels, US Buying Unlikely
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen expects Bitcoin to remain near its current price through the end of 2026 despite the cryptocurrency’s recent rally. Speaking on Cointelegraph’s Trade Secrets podcast, Chen said forecasting whether Bitcoin will finish the year above or below $70,000 is difficult because interest rates and broader macroeconomic conditions could significantly affect the market.
Chen said Bitcoin has become increasingly integrated with traditional finance, making it more sensitive to changes in monetary policy. Her central estimate is that BTC will end 2026 within $10,000 to $20,000 of its current level, a range she described as a more responsible forecast than predicting a specific price target.
The Bitget CEO also questioned whether the US government will purchase additional Bitcoin before the end of President Donald Trump’s term. Although the administration established a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve in March 2025 using BTC previously forfeited to the federal government, it has not launched a program of direct acquisitions. The US reportedly holds approximately 328,372 BTC, according to BitcoinTreasuries.NET, largely through law-enforcement seizures and asset forfeitures.
Chen believes active government purchases would require a much broader political and legislative decision than the reserve’s creation. Despite the administration’s generally crypto-friendly position, she considers additional US Bitcoin acquisitions unlikely during the next two years because lawmakers from both parties would need to support them.
