Bitget CEO Predicts Bitcoin to Stay Near $70K Through 2026, Calls US BTC Buys Unlikely

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen expects Bitcoin to trade within a narrow band through the end of 2026, despite the cryptocurrency's recent rally. Speaking on Cointelegraph's Trade Secrets podcast, Chen said macroeconomic uncertainty—particularly the possibility of higher interest rates—could keep BTC within $10,000 to $20,000 of its current price, which she described as her "more responsible" forecast. Bitcoin has become increasingly intertwined with traditional finance, making it more sensitive to broader economic conditions than in prior cycles, according to Chen.

Chen was more definitive on the question of US government Bitcoin purchases. She called it unlikely that Washington would actively acquire BTC for its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve before the end of President Donald Trump's term, citing the political and legislative hurdles such a move would require. The Trump administration established the reserve in March 2025 using forfeited BTC already held by the federal government, and currently controls an estimated 328,372 BTC—most of it accumulated through law enforcement seizures and asset forfeitures rather than direct market purchases.

Chen noted that expanding the reserve through active buying would demand bipartisan debate far beyond the administration's existing crypto-friendly posture. "From a policy perspective, it's probably unlikely," she said. "I just don't see it coming right now." Her comments arrive as Bitcoin rally has lifted crypto-linked equities, including miners and treasury companies, while analysts remain divided on the asset's near-term trajectory.
