Crypto News: Musk AI Warning, China Blockchain Plan, Ethereum Delay
Bitcoin was listed at $80,324.87 in a crypto roundup dominated by infrastructure and protocol risks. Elon Musk warned on X that more than 200 specialist AI “neoclouds” could fail or consolidate as lenders restrict financing to companies without substantial revenue outside AI data centers. Musk contrasted those operators with SpaceX, which he said secured $40 billion in debt financing for GPUs thanks to its investment-grade credit profile and revenue from Starlink and its rocket business. The warning could affect Bitcoin miners moving into AI hosting, including IREN’s expansion into AI cloud services and Core Scientific’s data-center contracts with neocloud operators such as CoreWeave. Research firm Gartner has forecast that more than 80% of neocloud providers will cease operating independently by 2030.
China is targeting 2030 to largely complete a national blockchain network under its 15th Five-Year Plan for National Informatization. The plan calls for expanded blockchain use in trade and finance in the Yangtze River Delta, as well as larger-scale deployments in manufacturing and agriculture across the Chengdu–Chongqing region. The document was issued by the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and builds on an Oct. 9 policy from the Communist Party’s central leadership and the State Council that called for broader national adoption of blockchain technology.
Ethereum developers also delayed the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet after researchers identified potential smart contract security risks. The postponement gives protocol teams additional time to assess and address the findings before the upgrade advances through testing, underscoring the growing focus on security as Ethereum’s development cycle expands.
