Crypto Projects Apply for Anthropic's AI Security Scanner as US Moves $1B in Seized Bitcoin

Ethereum client developer Nethermind and Bitcoin Lightning wallet ZEUS are among several crypto companies that submitted enrollment requests on Friday for Anthropic's newly launched OSS Scanner program. The initiative, announced Thursday, gives open-source projects access to security reports generated by Anthropic's most advanced models, including Claude Mythos. "These reports will be generated by our strongest models to give open-source projects the largest defensive advantage," Anthropic said. The company described OSS Scanner as an opt-in service building on its earlier Project Glasswing work, designed to accelerate vulnerability disclosure beyond the slower manual review process.

The US government transferred more than $1 billion in Bitcoin linked to the 2016 Bitfinex hack on Wednesday, moving 12,267 BTC to an unidentified address just hours after shifting another $770 million in seized BTC to Coinbase Prime. According to Arkham Research, the sending wallet is tied to Bitcoin recovered from the breach that originally resulted in the theft of 119,756 BTC. The combined transactions represent nearly $1.8 billion in Bitcoin movements within hours, though the purpose remains unclear. Cointelegraph reached out to the US Marshals Service and Department of Justice for comment but had not received a response at press time.

Separately, European regulators gave crypto firms a three-month deadline to wind down services involving stablecoins that do not comply with the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. The move tightens enforcement of one of the bloc's most comprehensive digital asset regulations, requiring platforms to either delist non-compliant stablecoins or transition to fully authorized alternatives. Meanwhile, Bitcoin traded at $82,370.90, while BNB rose 3.33% to $742.50 and Solana gained 3.96% to $110.38 amid broader market activity.
