Fairshake PAC Backs 32 House Candidates in 2026 Midterms, Pledges $6M Initial Spend
Fairshake, the cryptocurrency-backed political action committee funded by Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and Andreessen Horowitz, announced plans to financially support 32 US House candidates in the 2026 midterm elections, with an initial $6 million directed to six incumbents. The PAC, which reported $122 million cash on hand, will back 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats who all voted in favor of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in 2025. The CLARITY Act, intended to establish clear regulatory roles for US agencies overseeing digital assets, failed a crucial Senate vote and remains in legislative limbo ahead of the elections.
The first round of $1 million contributions will go to six candidates: Democrats Janelle Bynum (Oregon), Derek Tran (California), and Steven Horsford (Nevada), along with Republicans French Hill (Arkansas), Bill Huizenga (Michigan), and Bryan Steil (Wisconsin). Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter emphasized the PAC's bipartisan, issue-driven approach, stating the group aims to "help build the largest pro-crypto caucus in American history." The PAC is projected to spend more than $100 million on House and Senate races, including at least $30 million in Ohio's Senate race backing Republican Jon Husted over Democrat Sherrod Brown.
With many polls showing Democrats favored to take majority control of both chambers in 2027, the CLARITY vote failure has raised expectations of increased crypto PAC spending in key battleground races. According to consumer advocacy group Public Citizen, Fairshake had already spent $82 million on candidate-support or opposition ads as of June, less than half of the $189 million the group estimated came from the broader crypto industry's advocacy efforts. The outcome of the midterms could determine whether digital asset market structure legislation advances or stalls in the next congressional session.
