Fairshake PACs Dump $2.7M Into House Races as US Midterms Loom
With just 22 days until the 2026 US midterm elections, Fairshake-aligned political action committees Defend American Jobs and Protect Progress reported a combined $2.7 million in ad and direct mail expenditures for US House of Representatives candidates, according to Federal Election Commission filings made public on Saturday. Fairshake, the crypto-focused super PAC backed primarily by Cantor Fitzgerald, Coinbase, and Ripple Labs, is using the spending blitz to support both Democratic and Republican lawmakers it considers aligned with pro-digital asset legislation.
The latest FEC disclosures earmarked more than $512,000 for California Representative Pete Aguilar, $500,000 for New Jersey Representative Josh Gottheimer, $76,000 for House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, and $73,000 for House Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn Thompson. The filings come shortly after Fairshake announced plans to endorse 32 additional House candidates, with six slated to receive $1 million each in supportive media spending. As of August, a PAC spokesperson confirmed $122 million in cash on hand, including at least $30 million earmarked to block former Senate Banking Committee Chair Sherrod Brown in Ohio, a Democrat who consistently voted against industry-favored bills during his tenure.
Every targeted lawmaker voted for the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act in 2025, which sought to establish formal market structure rules for the cryptocurrency sector by expanding the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's oversight authority. While the bill cleared the House with bipartisan support, it failed a procedural vote in the Senate, leaving its future uncertain ahead of the midterms. The outcome of November's elections is widely expected to determine whether crypto market structure reforms advance in the next congressional session, making Fairshake's multimillion-dollar ad strategy a high-stakes bet on legislative momentum for the industry.
