Former Hack VC Partner Hsin-Ju Chuang Found Dead at 37 on California Interstate

Hsin-Ju Chuang, a former partner at crypto venture capital firm Hack VC, has died at age 37 on southbound Interstate 15 south of Field Road in California on Aug. 24, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner. The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene, where Chuang was pronounced dead. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a cause of death, and Cointelegraph's request for additional information from the CHP went unanswered by publication time.

Chuang was a prominent figure in the crypto industry. She founded Dystopia Labs and previously served as head of growth at both Stellar and Solana, two major blockchain ecosystems. She joined Hack VC as a venture partner in 2021 and was elevated to partner and head of platform in 2025. Before her death, Chuang had publicly accused Hack VC of mistreating her during her tenure and said she planned to release evidence supporting her allegations.

Hack VC co-founder and managing partner Alexander Pack said the firm was "shocked and saddened" by Chuang's death and extended condolences to her family and friends. Pack noted that the company had not spoken directly with Chuang in more than 10 months and was unaware of the circumstances surrounding her death, urging the public to "be respectful of those who are grieving." Chuang's passing has cast a somber light on the crypto venture capital community, where she was known for her work scaling growth at leading blockchain protocols.
