Michael Saylor Signals Strategy's Return to Bitcoin Buying After 2-Month Pause
Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), has signaled that the company is likely to resume its aggressive Bitcoin acquisition strategy after a two-month hiatus. Saylor posted "We're Back" on X, a cryptic weekend message that has historically preceded official Monday morning treasury purchase announcements, giving market watchers reason to believe a new BTC buy is imminent.
The pause, which stretched through the summer, saw Strategy shift its focus from expanding its crypto holdings to strengthening its balance sheet. During this period, management stabilized its preferred stock offerings, built a $5.1 billion US dollar reserve, and introduced a dedicated $1.59 billion cash pool generated through large common stock offerings. The strategic breather coincided with a challenging market environment that left the company's massive Bitcoin treasury sitting deep in the red on paper, with BTC briefly dipping toward $78,000 before recovering.
Recent macro momentum has since propelled Bitcoin past the $80,000 threshold, pushing Strategy's overall position back into positive territory. The firm holds more than 840,447 Bitcoin at an average cost basis of approximately $75,385, making the current price recovery a significant turning point. Saylor's declaration functions both operationally—signaling readiness to deploy the company's considerable dry powder back into BTC—and psychologically, marking a return to profitability and renewed momentum for the world's largest corporate Bitcoin treasury.
