NYSE and Blockchain.com Partner to Offer Tokenized US Stocks to Crypto Users

The New York Stock Exchange and Blockchain.com have signed a memorandum of understanding to bring tokenized US-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds to Blockchain.com's global user base through NYSE's planned digital alternative trading system (ATS), pending regulatory approval. The partnership positions Blockchain.com as a distribution channel for NYSE's tokenized securities, while NYSE affiliate ICE Data Services will distribute Blockchain.com's crypto market data and analytics to its institutional clients. Blockchain.com will also integrate certain ICE and NYSE market data feeds into its platform.

The collaboration reflects a broader race among exchanges to bring equities into blockchain-based trading environments. Kraken has launched xStocks and partnered with Nasdaq on its own tokenized equity model, while Binance, Coinbase, and Robinhood have all rolled out competing approaches to putting stocks onchain. Tanay Ved, senior research associate at digital asset technology firm Talos, noted that tokenization models vary widely, ranging from issuer-native equity to custodial exposure to pure derivatives, each with trade-offs between ownership rights and accessibility.

NYSE's digital ATS appears aimed primarily at retail traders, according to Reid Noch, vice president of US equity market structure at TD Securities, who cited planned features including 24/7 trading and request-for-quote functionality. Because retail trades are typically pre-funded, Noch said the shift to instant settlement would require minimal changes to existing workflows. He pointed to weekend trading as a potentially significant differentiator, particularly for retail-heavy stocks and during episodic news events, similar to how tokenized oil perpetual futures saw elevated activity during the start of the Iran conflict. The agreement marks one of the largest moves yet by a traditional exchange operator into the tokenized equities space.
