PancakeSwap TVL Surges to $2.4B as 'The Flip' Fee Overhaul Heads to Vote

Decentralized exchange PancakeSwap saw its total value locked (TVL) climb nearly 19% over the past week to $2.4 billion, an increase of roughly $380 million that was driven primarily by growth in its V3 liquidity pools. According to DefiLlama data, V3 pool TVL more than doubled to approximately $739 million from $336 million over the seven-day period. The surge coincided with the opening of a governance vote on "The Flip," a proposal that would raise liquidity providers' share of swap fees on V3 and Infinity pools to 88%, up from the current 66%-68% range. The proposal would also slash daily CAKE token emissions by roughly 69%, cutting them from 22,500 to 7,000 tokens. Voting runs from Oct. 21 through Oct. 24, with implementation expected in November if the measure is approved.

PancakeSwap continues to dominate BNB Chain's decentralized trading landscape, accounting for roughly $4.67 billion in DEX volume over the past seven days, or about 71% of the network's total, per DeFiLlama. BNB Chain itself hosts approximately $2.33 billion of PancakeSwap's $2.40 billion in TVL. The broader BNB Chain ecosystem also posted strong gains, with network-wide TVL rising 8.3% to $5.84 billion and DEX volume jumping 40.2% to $6.54 billion, even as the chain's stablecoin market capitalization dipped 0.6% to $13.1 billion. The growth highlights BNB Chain's positioning as a hub for retail-focused DeFi activity heading into late 2026.

Beyond spot trading, PancakeSwap has deepened its foothold in tokenized equities through Binance's bStocks, which the DEX began supporting in June. On Oct. 15, Binance reported that bStocks had surpassed $1 billion in assets under management, posting more than $40 billion in cumulative trading volume and noting that 11.2% of bStocks' value was deployed in DeFi as of early October. The integration has given PancakeSwap early exposure to the tokenized stock market, an emerging sector bridging traditional equities with onchain liquidity. Industry observers say the upcoming fee restructuring could further entrench the protocol's lead on BNB Chain by improving capital efficiency for LPs at a time when competing DEXs are also vying for yield providers.
