Stablecoin Remittances 84% Cheaper Than Banks: Crypto Daily Roundup

A new report from payments network Borderless.xyz reveals that stablecoin-funded remittances cost approximately 84% less than traditional money transfers. Sending $200 through stablecoin payment networks carries a median fee of $2 (1%), compared with $12.72 (6.36%) for conventional remittances. Savings were most pronounced in emerging markets: stablecoin transfers cost just 2.9% in Sub-Saharan Africa versus 8.46% for traditional channels, and 1.25% in Latin America versus 5.64%. For businesses, a $10,000 stablecoin-funded transfer to the eurozone costs as little as $26, compared with $135 to $150 for an international bank wire including foreign-exchange costs. Settlement times were also faster, with a median of two minutes in Brazil and Colombia, and three minutes in Mexico, versus next-business-day SWIFT transfers.

Separately, Solana postponed its Accelerate event in Shanghai after registrations surged past local capacity limits. Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, announced the postponement on X, explaining that registration quadrupled overnight following event publicity and that organizers needed to comply with local requirements. Earlier, X users reported that law enforcement officers had been stationed at the venue. This marks the second time a Solana China event has been disrupted by capacity concerns, following a shortened Shenzhen gathering in October 2025. Shanghai was scheduled to open Solana's four-city Accelerate China tour, followed by Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beijing.
