StablecoinX Taps Franklin Templeton Veteran Christopher Jensen as New CEO

StablecoinX, the largest corporate holder of Ethena's ENA governance token, has appointed former Franklin Templeton digital asset executive Christopher Jensen as its new CEO. Jensen succeeds Ted Chen, who led the company through its Nasdaq public listing in June under the ticker USDE and will continue as chairman of the board.

StablecoinX holds approximately 3.03 billion ENA tokens—roughly 20% of the token's total supply—and operates as a publicly traded company focused on the Ethena ecosystem. Ethena issues USDe, a synthetic dollar currently ranked as the fifth-largest stablecoin with nearly $4.4 billion in circulation, according to DefiLlama data. ENA grants holders voting rights over protocol changes, making StablecoinX's stake a significant governance position within the network.

Jensen joins StablecoinX from Franklin Templeton, where he served as a portfolio manager and director of digital asset research and helped build the firm's digital asset group following its 2018 launch. Franklin Templeton's blockchain venture fund participated in Ethena's seed round, giving Jensen direct familiarity with the protocol from its earliest stages. The leadership transition follows Ethena's recent launch of Ethena Pay, a self-custodial app enabling users to spend, save, and transfer its USDe synthetic dollar.

Despite the corporate changes, ENA remains down roughly 20% year to date, though the token has surged more than 80% over the past month to trade around $0.16, according to CoinGecko data. The rebound coincides with renewed institutional interest in the Ethena ecosystem and the rollout of consumer-facing products like Ethena Pay.
