Strategy Eyes More Bitcoin Buys as Saylor Highlights $30B Credit Capacity
Bitcoin treasury company Strategy is considering additional Bitcoin purchases financed through digital credit, including preferred-share offerings such as STRC. Executive chairman Michael Saylor said the company could create as much as $30 billion in digital credit using its existing balance sheet, without requiring another common-stock fundraising or further appreciation in Bitcoin’s price.
“We could create $10 billion, $20 billion, $30 billion of digital credit,” Saylor said during Strategy’s third-quarter earnings call. CEO Phong Le added that issuing digital credit would be the company’s primary method for acquiring more Bitcoin. He said Strategy could raise $1 billion to $2 billion in a month through STRC, hold part of the proceeds in dollar reserves and use the remainder to buy Bitcoin.
Strategy reported $19.53 billion in third-quarter net income, largely driven by a $20.91 billion increase in the value of its digital assets. Its Bitcoin holdings reached 848,517 BTC as of Oct. 25, representing a 26% gain year to date. The company’s growing use of preferred shares marks a shift away from relying primarily on convertible debt or common-share sales to fund its treasury strategy.
The $30 billion figure reflects Strategy’s estimated financing capacity rather than an announced fundraising target. Any additional credit issuance or Bitcoin purchases would depend on market conditions and the company’s ability to attract investors to its digital-credit products.
