Strive Buys $81.5M in Bitcoin as Strategy Pauses BTC Purchases After $2B Raise
Strive, the Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin treasury company, added 1,110 BTC worth roughly $81.5 million last week, pushing its total holdings past 21,000 coins and cementing its position as the seventh-largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder. Shares climbed more than 8% on Monday following the announcement, which was disclosed in a regulatory filing showing an average purchase price of $73,409 per BTC between Aug. 17 and Aug. 21. The company now holds 21,356 BTC and reported $171.9 million in cash and cash equivalents, including a $17.1 million addition during the period. Strive's SATA preferred shares returned to management's targeted $99-to-$101 range after closing Friday at $100.01.
Meanwhile, Strategy, the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder, raised approximately $2 billion through common stock sales but notably made no new BTC purchases during the same window. The firm sold 18.26 million MSTR shares through its at-the-market offering program between Aug. 17 and Aug. 23, according to a Monday SEC filing. Strategy repurchased about 1.43 million STRC preferred shares for $136.4 million, added $300 million to its US dollar reserve, and directed remaining proceeds into a newly launched cash account. Combined reserves now total $6.69 billion across the two pools. Strategy's Bitcoin holdings remain at 840,447 BTC, acquired at an average cost of $63.36 billion.
Strategy said the new cash pool provides management greater flexibility to respond to market volatility and can fund future Bitcoin acquisitions, preferred-stock dividends, debt obligations, and securities buybacks. The company's pause on purchases marks a notable shift in accumulation strategy as it builds liquidity ahead of potential market moves.
Pakistan's crypto licensing portal officially opened with a Sept. 5 deadline for existing digital asset providers to submit applications, adding regulatory momentum to the broader market.
