VanEck Launches Wealth Builder ETF with 2% Bitcoin Allocation
VanEck has launched the actively managed VanEck Wealth Builder ETF (NYSE: WBMO), a multi-asset exchange-traded fund designed to combine global equities, bonds, gold and other real assets with targeted Bitcoin exposure. The fund targets a 2% allocation to Bitcoin and may adjust that exposure within a range of 1% to 5%.
WBMO obtains its Bitcoin exposure through a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded product rather than holding the cryptocurrency directly. The ETF invests in VanEck and third-party ETFs, with VanEck managing and rebalancing the portfolio. It also builds on the asset manager’s existing Wealth Builder model portfolios, which were previously available to financial advisers through third-party wealth-management platforms.
VanEck Head of Multi-Asset Solutions David Schassler said the traditional 60/40 stock-and-bond portfolio was created for a different investment environment. Adding real assets and limited Bitcoin exposure, he said, could help investors navigate a broader range of economic conditions.
The launch follows VanEck’s March partnership with retirement platform Basic Capital, which made a selection of the firm’s digital-asset ETFs available through US employer-sponsored 401(k) plans. According to VanEck, the asset manager oversaw approximately $244.1 billion in assets as of Sept. 30.
