Webull Launches Crypto Trading in Canada via Coinbase Partnership

Webull, the self-directed brokerage and trading platform, is expanding into the Canadian crypto market through infrastructure provided by Coinbase's Crypto-as-a-Service unit. Announced Monday, the collaboration gives Webull access to Coinbase's underlying trading and custody technology, allowing the platform to offer digital assets alongside its existing lineup of stocks, exchange-traded funds and options. The move extends Webull's crypto footprint beyond the United States, Australia and Brazil into Canada.

Webull's Canadian website currently lists 10 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH) and Solana (SOL), with additional assets available beyond the displayed roster. The expansion positions the brokerage to capture a growing share of Canadian retail investors who are increasingly allocating capital to digital assets as access becomes easier through mainstream platforms.

Driving the launch is a sharp rise in Canadian crypto ownership. Webull cited Ontario Securities Commission research showing digital asset ownership climbed to 25% this year, up from 10% in 2023. The company framed the expansion as a response to that demand and to a regulatory environment that is becoming more defined. Canada's federal Stablecoin Act, introduced following the 2025 budget, would establish requirements for both domestic and foreign issuers of fiat-backed stablecoins, addressing a gap that has lingered as adoption accelerated. While comprehensive stablecoin rules have not yet taken effect, the broader direction of Canadian policy signals growing institutional comfort with the digital asset sector.
