Winklevoss Zcash ETF Files With SEC for Nasdaq Listing Under WINK Ticker
The Winklevoss twins are moving deeper into crypto funds, backing a new Zcash ETF that has officially filed a registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The proposed Winklevoss Zcash ETF would hold ZEC directly and seek to list on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker WINK. Winklevoss Asset Services would sponsor the fund, while affiliate Gemini Trust Company would custody its ZEC holdings. The fund would charge a 0.25% annual sponsor fee and avoid leverage or derivatives, offering investors a straightforward route to privacy-coin exposure through traditional brokerage accounts.
Winklevoss Capital Fund, through one or more affiliates, has indicated non-binding interest in purchasing up to $100 million in shares, signaling strong conviction in the product. The filing positions the Winklevoss fund as the second Zcash ETF in the US market, following Grayscale's ZCSH fund, which recently announced a 3-for-1 share split. Together, these launches underscore growing institutional appetite for regulated privacy-focused crypto products.
Zcash's core appeal lies in its use of zero-knowledge proofs, which enable shielded transactions that can conceal the identities of senders and recipients as well as transaction amounts — a feature that sets it apart from more transparent blockchains like Bitcoin. That privacy narrative, combined with a powerful bull run, has driven ZEC up more than 735% over the past year. According to CoinGecko, Zcash now trades at roughly $1,354 with a market capitalization of approximately $23 billion, ranking it as the 10th-largest cryptocurrency by market value.
