World Money Self-Custody Super App Launches in 150 Countries
Tools for Humanity has launched World Money, a self-custodial financial super app combining stablecoin payments, digital asset rewards and trading. The rollout began Thursday across more than 150 countries, with available features varying by jurisdiction. The app is the latest expansion of the World network, whose underlying technology is developed by the company co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Alex Blania.
Users can send supported digital assets, including stablecoins, to any World username, deposit eligible holdings to earn yield through the app's Vault feature, and buy and sell digital assets via integrated exchanges. The platform also hosts "Mini Apps" such as prediction market Kalshi, the Credit lending product and DeFi protocol Morpho. A partnership with Stripe allows users to fund accounts and purchase stablecoins using Apple Pay, beginning with US customers.
World Money builds on World App, which debuted in May 2023 by pairing World ID identity verification with a crypto wallet, stablecoin transfers and token trading. World App 3.0 followed in October 2024, adding third-party Mini Apps and yield-earning vaults. In November 2025, the company piloted virtual US bank accounts that convert paychecks and direct deposits into USDC, rolling the service out internationally one month later.
With this launch, World has formally separated its identity and financial services into two distinct apps. World ID App now handles identity verification and credentials, while World Money manages wallets, payments and financial features. Existing users of World App and World ID App can access the new platform with their current accounts.
