XRP Exchange Inflows Surpass 6B as Whale Activity Retreats
More than 6 billion XRP reached crypto exchanges in the 30 days through Oct. 19, according to CryptoQuant. The 6.05 billion tokens recorded during the period represent the highest rolling inflow total since March and have doubled since mid-August. XRP rose from around $1 to as much as $1.70 during that window before retreating to approximately $1.30.
Whale activity has moved in the opposite direction. CryptoQuant’s 90-day moving average of whale exchange outflows has fallen 98.6% from its February 2025 peak of $3.5 billion to $49.7 million, the lowest level since October 2021. The analytics firm said large investors may be waiting for more attractive entry prices, potentially leaving XRP without the buying volume needed to sustain a strong advance.
Rising exchange inflows can indicate impending selling pressure, although CryptoQuant cautioned that they may also reflect greater trading activity, improved exchange liquidity, or routine transfers between custodial wallets and exchanges. XRP’s realized profit-and-loss ratio also dropped 41% in October as the market returned to range-bound conditions, reinforcing the shift toward consolidation rather than a sustained whale-led rally.
